LifeWatch ERIC at Transfiere 2021

LifeWatch ERIC co-organised and made important contributions to Transfiere 2021, in Málaga, Spain, on 14-15 April. Many of the 2,000 participants visited the LifeWatch ERIC booth, including representatives of local, regional, national and international governments, universities, and other research centres.


ERIC Forum Chair

Francisco Colomer, Director of JIVE ERIC, has been appointed as the new Chair of the ERIC Forum, in charge of strengthening its dialogue and relations with key stakeholders such as the European Commission and the ESFRI.


eDNA Biomonitoring

A DNAqua-Net workshop hosted by Cyprus University of Technology and the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology & Aquaculture (HCMR) presented the exciting potential of new genetic methods for assessing biodiversity.


Big Seashell Survey

This unique citizen science initiative, organised every year by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), with its partners and 10 coastal municipalities, saw 1,100 people involved in counting and identifying 40,000 shells.


Spatial Modelling PT

Understanding temporal changes in aquatic communities is essential to addressing the current crisis in freshwater biodiversity. A study in the Sabor river in Portugal focused on stream fish affected by a hydropower development.


The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) is looking to hire a researcher to join its Marine Observation Centre, to further LifeWatch Belgium's work in fish tracking research. Applications close 7 May 2021.


The 9th EuroGOOS International Conference, Advances in Operational Oceanography: 'Expanding Europe's ocean observing and forecasting capacity' will be online, 3-5 May 2021.


The virtual International Conference on Research Infrastructures on 1-3 June brings together policy experts, facility managers and  researchers to discuss RI challenges and trends.

The EMODnet Open Conference and Jamboree is a hybrid event taking place 14-16 June 2021 under the theme 'Connecting Open Data, Delivering Marine Knowledge: A Vision for 2030'.
